My daughter has attended White Oak ECC since January of 2006. I have had a wonderful experience with their program. Mrs. Shah is a true gift to children. My daughter enjoys going to school to see her everyday. She will start Kindergarten this fall and is very much prepared. I love the fact that the classes are small so that the children get the one on one attention that they deserve. I have observed several Daycare centers in this area and that is exactly what they were... a Daycare. White Oak is far from that. They have a very well structured program. They teach the children not baby-sit them.
I was able to stay at home with my daughter until she was 18 months old and this was a very hard decision for my husband and I. White Oak ECC was recommended by a family member and I am so glad that we chose them. I was able to start a new job and not worry all day if my child was being taken care of. I know that she is! Thanks to all of the staff at White Oak.” Parent -Kim Clarke
Kindergarten Preparedness "My son has been attending White Oak for three years, and it will be hard for all of us when it is time for him to move on to kindergarten next fall; however, he's READY for kindergarten, and that's thanks to the solid foundational education that he's received at White Oak. In addition to the education, the staff at White Oak have always made clear that they CARE about him, and that is just as important (if not more so) as the curriculum." Parent- Janel Nellen
Structured Learning “ There is no other well-structured local pre-school program that offers a manner-driven, technology accessible, literature inclusive lesson every day. The students acquire problem-solving skills experiences from the weekly study themes that encourage them to make healthy decisions. The fact that my child doesn’t have to leave school grounds to have a well-rounded, adventurous and educational week is a plus as field trips take place right in the back yard. My child is excited to attend White Oak Early Childcare Center every day.” Parent - Racheal Ruiz“
Social Awareness “White Oak ECC was exactly what we were looking for when my husband and I began our childcare search for our son. He was three years old at the time and only family members had cared for him, but Mrs. Shah and all of the other teachers made his transition very smooth. He immediately took to the routine and structure of his classroom and he looked forward to going to 'school'. White Oak provided learning as well as a social environment, which was one of the many things I was looking for in a center given my daycare experience before graduating college. The curriculum is well planned and the small class size is wonderful for allowing extra attention where it is needed. My son loved informing his father and I about the election last year, he had learned the names of all the candidates and even recognized their pictures. We were really impressed with his development and thank White Oak's staff for everything.” Parent - Kristy Long

“ I would highly recommend White Oak to ANYONE seeking childcare for his or her child. My son stayed at home with my parents before he started preschool in August 2008. He was used to doing whatever he wanted, but the staff worked with him to get him on a schedule and taught him how life is in a structured environment. I have noticed a huge improvement in my son since he stared attending White Oak. The playground is full of activities for the children. There are special events planned for the children at least once a month. My child has enjoyed attending preschool at White Oak. The staff has been kind, caring and compassionate to my son and I.” Parent - Bridget Cook
“Our experience with White Oak ECC has been phenomenal. We placed our two children at this facility back in 2006. My daughter was 4 years old and my son was 18 months. Neither had ever been in any daycare setting and what I loved about White Oak ECC is that it had structure and a curriculum. This truly prepared my daughter for entering Kindergarten the following year. She has excelled in her academics and social life in Elementary School. My son's class only had 5 children total. This really allowed for one on one development and I am so impressed with his achievements. He is now 4 years old and can write his name with assistance, recognize all his shapes, colors, numbers up to 10 in writing and can count to 20 +. He can recognize all his letters and even knows some of their sounds.
We investigated and visited other facilities in the area but we found they were missing a very unique quality that White Oak ECC possesses. It has the perfect balance between development and personal-ism. The caregivers at White Oak have all been very personal and have become a part of our extended family. They take pictures of special events or activities and share them by email at no additional cost. This is wonderful for parents who can't be there with our children to see what they are doing during the day. They plan special activities for the kids that are age appropriate. They use several communication hubs to keep parent abreast of their child's performance, behaviors, and activities. They use email, a "report card" twice a year that compares developmental milestones, conferences if need or requested, and daily/weekly reviews depending on the child's age.
I have 3 years of experience in the daycare setting prior to getting my BA in Early Education at VCU. Therefore, I not only made the decision to place my kids here because I loved the people and the program. I also made my decision based on my experience and knowledge of what type of atmosphere a child needs to become a confident, social-able, well adjusted kid. My only regret is that I did not place my daughter at White Oak ECC sooner.” Mother of Two- Beth Crostic
Extra-Curricular Activities “My daughter has thrived at your school. I really like the structured learning as well as the freedom of playtime. I think starting a routine early in her life will help her when she starts school. Because she is an only child, your school offers her interaction with other children. It also allows her to learn inter-personal skills. She has learned to play with others, share and take turns (most of the time!). She also enjoys not only the day-to-day activities but also the special days such as "Pizza Lunch" or "Ice Cream Truck" Day. Thank you for providing such a great environment for my child!” Parent - Jennifer Turner
Sense of Safety and confidence “ Honestly, your program has been a Godsend to my family and I. My son had never been away from me and you made the transition smooth. He learned so much from potty training to speaking properly, socialization and general manners. I am very impressed with your willing to work with us on many different situations! I feel totally comfortable and confident when I drop my son off and leave him for the day. I have highly recommended and commended your center!” Parent -Lisa Wood
